Taking part in races with Junoplano.
Why not learn to go race sailing?
There is nothing better than to participate in races, however long or short they are, always determining how to make the boat go faster, choosing the best route and always keeping safety in mind at all times .
For this Junoplano Sail Academy has included in its program participation in the Mediterranean offshore racing season, with numerous events, designed according to the level of the crew and the time available.
The calendar allows you to participate in various races: - From the less demanding of one to two days - Cyclops Route at 120 miles, La Lunga Bolina at 140 miles and Three Gulfs at 150 miles. Medium level - 7 islands at 200 miles and finally the longer, more demanding races - Romaxtutti at 526 miles, Middle Sea Race at 630 miles and the Palermo to Monte Carlo at 530 miles, enabling a progressive approach to the longer offshore races.
During racing, the goal it is to navigate faster and better than the other competitors. Choosing the right course, evaluate weather and forecasts and carry out all the activities necessary to drive the boat to achieve its best performance, constantly adjusting sails, canting ballast, appendices and foils.
Whilst sailing you will refine the various roles aboard, thereby strengthening the team work. The team will be evaluating together the tactical choices and establish rigorous watches, during which a number of topics will be covered including:
● Sails and reefing system
● Best race route and navigation.
● Sailing changes.
● Effects of different wind direction.
● Meteorology.
● Sail trim in high winds and or seas.
● Navigation shifts.
● Instrumental Navigation.
● Surveillance and lookout, (watching.)
● Management of fatigue and stress.
● Emergencies and manoeuvres required, Simulation security
Progressively in a completely natural way, you will enter into harmony with the boat and the other crew members, with the aim of getting the best result possible.
Once returning after the race and the boat is made good. You may remain within the marina until the restart perhaps sightseeing Malta, Monte Carlo, Portorosa, Tropea, Naples and Capri. just to name a few.
Each race is preceded by:
● One or more transfer stages to the race departure port.
● One or more training days, setting up the boat, the race itself and a stop in the port of destination
● In one or more transfer stages, post race, towards the next destination port.
In each of the three stages (Pre-race, the Race and Post-race) you are able to be aboard Junoplano. Transfers only to and from the race, is an option available to you and the cost varies depends on time spent aboard. Please contact us for further information.
The cost is fixed for the race itself and includes pre and post race transfers.
